Help with Senior Care in the US

Assisted Living for Seniors

There are over 36,000 assisted living communities in the United States.  Assisted living communities, or assisted living facilities (ALFs) as they are sometimes called, provide a type of senior housing in a more independent setting than a conventional nursing home.

Assisted living aims to promote well-being in the senior years of life, by creating a supportive and safe environment, with care providers to assist with seniors with daily tasks as required.  ALFs can vary greatly from those that offer great independence for their residents, to those that cater to those with medical needs.  In this case the assisted living facility is more of a substitute for a nursing home.

In an assisted living community a resident will typically get to have their own room and space.  The facility usually has some common community areas where residents can socialize and participate in activities.  The aim of assisted living is to support the physical, emotional and mental state of our seniors, whilst also helping seniors to retain some sense of dignity and independence.
